Sometimes we ask What is God’s will for my life? when we should really be asking Who should I be? The Bible has an answer: Be like the very image of God.
By exploring ten characteristics of who God is—holy, loving, just, good, merciful, gracious, faithful, patient, truthful, and wise—this book helps us understand who God intends for us to be. Through Christ, the perfect reflection of the image of God, we will discover how God’s own attributes impact how we live, leading to freedom and purpose as we follow his will and are conformed to his image.
Jen Wilkin is a speaker, writer, and teacher of women’s Bible studies. During her seventeen years of teaching, she has organized and led studies for women in home, church, and parachurch contexts. Jen and her family are members of the Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas.
I read this book because I thoroughly enjoyed "None Like Him" and wanted to hear more - it did not disappoint! While "None Like Him" focussed on the character traits of God that we are not to imitate, "In His Image" focusses on those traits that we should be imitating as followers of Christ. The author's style is very down to earth and relatable, and she draws good arguments from scripture.
My wife has done a few studies written by Jen Wilkin in the past so I bought this book for her as a gift. She enjoyed the book and the reflection questions at the end of each chapter. It's a great book for a group study or devotional.
