“Easter Alleluia!” Easter anthem for SATB voices (opt. children\'s choir) and piano; words by Mark A. Miller, anon. Latin trans. by Francis Potts, and John H. Templeton; music by Mark A. Miller.

This spirited song of Easter praise will have toes tapping and bodies moving. Mark Miller employs colorful chords with a fully stylized piano accompaniment to create a total package in this anthem. Follow his lead and you will have no trouble quickly teaching these patterns to your ensemble. The opening refrain, for unison women or children\'s choir, pervades the entire anthem. Pieces of verse material proclaim the “strife is over” and “behold Him rise.” A key change at measure 37 brings on divided choir including men and children in full harmony of praise. A soprano descant adds one more layer in measure 57 as the anthem moves to its closing “Alleluia!”

The piano part provides a solid foundation to the voices often fully encompassing the parts adding rhythmic interest and tonal color. Rhythms may challenge weaker players, although the completeness of the part may empower those wishing to play this style. The vocal ranges are suited to the mature voice.

Performance options include use of the children\'s choir. Note the composer\'s suggestions throughout as to when children and/or women sing. You could substitute a unison youth choir for the children\'s choir parts. The descant is optional.
